The Law Must Stop the Scam
If a company floods your phone with glossy ads, promises “medical grade” comfort, and then delivers a product that bears little resemblance to the video, that is not clever marketing — it may be deception. Consumers buying dentures or other dental products are especially vulnerable, because they are often in pain, under financial strain, and desperate for a workable solution. BBB has warned that well-produced dental scam ads can take advantage of that trust, and some victims end up with subpar products and no meaningful refund path.
What makes this especially offensive is the gap between promise and performance. A company that advertises “custom silicone fit,” “soft cushion feel,” and a “100% money back guarantee” while failing to deliver what was represented may expose itself to consumer-fraud claims, and mail or wire schemes can also trigger serious federal consequences when the deception crosses those lines. Federal mail fraud can carry up to 20 years in prison, and in some cases more; mail theft itself is also a federal crime.
A Serious Betrayal
This is not just about dentures. It is about a business model built on pressure, repetition, and false hope. When companies target people through constant phone ads and make claims that are not backed by the actual product, they are exploiting a basic imbalance of power, and that should outrage every honest citizen.
The law already has tools, but enforcement must be stronger. Regulators should demand plain disclosures, truthful before-and-after representations, verified refund policies, and real customer-service access; if a company lies about materials, fit, or results, it should face restitution, fines, and criminal referral where appropriate. Consumers who are harmed should document everything, preserve screenshots, keep packaging, and file complaints with the dental board, consumer-protection agencies, and the platform that ran the ad.
Accountability, Not Excuses
We should stop treating these schemes as minor annoyances. When people are sold false promises about something as personal and expensive as dental care, the damage schemes gland is physical, financial, and emotional. The message to bad actors should be simple: if you lie to vulnerable people for profit, you should lose that profit, and if the fraud is deliberate and repeated, you should face jail.
